Synopsis
Takeda-san disappeared. He cannot stand the idea to be once again banished from Kasenjiki, ‘the place by the river’. For five, ten, and sometimes twenty years, almost fifty homeless people have lived by the Arakawa river, in the north of Tokyo, in small houses made of blue canvas that they built themselves. Takeda-san left me a letter with the order to ‘shoot a good film’. After he left, I kept on filming that place and its inhabitants, who were used to that particular existence, far away from the eye of ordinary Japanese…
