Synopsis
In Ordos, China, thousands of farmers are being relocated to a modern city in accordance with government plans to modernise the region – a shocking transition from the hut to the palace. Some farmers still resist, as they prefer to maintain the essential relationship with the land that ensures their independent survival.
The film explores a process that will occur on an enormous scale across China, as the central government announced plans to relocate 250,000,000 farmers to cities across the nation over the next 20 years.
