Synopsis
As the Internet finally arrives in tiny Bhutan, we witness its transformative impact on a young Buddhist monk whose initial trepidation gives way to profound engagement with the technology. He and the other child monks are lured by the possibilities of smartphones, which now compete with the structured daily rituals of monastery life. Unexpected and profound, Peyangki’s journey as a young teenager challenges us to reassess our own perceptions of relatedness and self-worth in an age of unparalleled connectivity.
