Synopsis
In Uttar Pradesh, northern India, the caste system is still alive. And what is worse than being part of the lowest social class, the Untouchables? Being an untouchable woman. Fortunately, the “Gulabi Gang”, thegroup of pink saris, is there to keep watch. Founded and directed bySampat Pal, an Untouchable who dared, the group helps women thathave been oppressed, beaten and raped by their husband’s family.These women are often close to suicide when they have found themselvespregnant and without a husband. The film tells a story about afight against the customs, a fight that becomes Sampat’s personal duelwith her own demons.
