Synopsis
With Beijing’s great growth has come great waste, but little advancement in the methods of waste disposal. Photographer Wang Jiuliang travels to more than 500 landfills, fearlessly documenting Beijing’s unholy cycle of consumption through poignant observational visits with the scavengers who live and work in the dumps. This sobering meditation on one of humanity’s gravest issues serves as a call to act before Beijing, then China, then the entire planet, is swallowed by garbage.
