Kalara, in collaboration with the Millenium Festival, is pleased to invite you to the screening of Makongo by Elvis Sabin Ngaïbino, an exceptional documentary on a little-known phenomenon: the challenges of education in rural or hard-to-reach areas of Sub-Saharan Africa.
How does education take root in the most isolated communities? What are the challenges, but also the “victories”?
A moving insight into access to education and the dignity of a marginalized community.
SYNOPSIS
André and Albert have chosen to transform their Aka Pygmy community through education. This is the story of their quest for basic education for the Pygmies living in the forests of the Central African Republic.
Their story highlights the courage and determination of two individuals who understand the value of literacy in changing the destiny of their community.

BIOGRAPHY
Elvis Sabin Ngaïbino, born in 1985 in the Central African Republic, is a self-taught filmmaker and producer with a degree in geology. In 2012, he founded the Central African Film Academy and began producing films for local television. His short film Docta Jefferson (2017) and his debut feature Makongo (2020) have won numerous international awards. Le Fardeau is his second feature-length documentary.
