Synopsis

From Rotterdam to Taipei, a young woman is searching for where she belongs. Adopted by a Dutch family, she has struggled not to feel like a stranger in a country so far from her birthplace, Taipei, and has always longed for a place where she would feel truly at home. It is with this desire that she embarks on her journey of self-discovery, returning home to Taiwan.

 

 

 

 

Director's Biography

Yun-Tien CHU: Yun-tien Chu is a Brussels-Taiwan filmmaker. She studied film history at Paris 1 University and documentary at RITCS. Before moving to Europe, she worked as a production assistant in Taiwan, among others for director Tsai Ming-Liang.
In 2016 she made the video installation 'My home is on the other side’ about the many stages and aspects of settling in a new country. With the short films 'The strait between us' (2021) and 'Intimes' (2022) Yun-tien continued to treat subjects like migration, the sense of belonging, loneliness and isolation.
