Synopsis
Through my phone screen, I watch my grandmother's health deteriorate. When I arrive in China, she's dead. I find myself alone with my mother. She devotes herself entirely to her religious practice.

Director's Biography
Jialai WANG: Born in 1990, Jialai Wang grew up with her mother in a suburb of Shanghai. In 2016, she moved to Belgium to study filmmaking at INSAS. Her short film Au pied de l'arbre Ashoka won the prize for best experimental documentary at the Doc.Berlin festival in 2021. Two years later, she directed Paragate (IDFA 2023) and Le Mantra de la tara verte.
