The objective of this master class is to meet two major concerns in terms of information-training for young professionals and student documentary filmmakers, directors, animation cinema etc.
The first part concerns the status and rights of audiovisual artists in Belgium. What are the particularities and working conditions associated with this status? How can we detect the particularities of contracts and remuneration and the resulting precariousness? For this master class, we will welcome Paola Stévenne (Director of the Scam), Renaud Maes (Professor of Social and Labour Sciences at the ULB) and Sophie Marchal (lawyer, specialist in the defence of artists before the ONEM). They will work on the basis of the study they have carried out, entitled “Documentarist, a profession for the rich?”
The second part concerns copyright and the invisible side of the exploitation of artistic works on the internet. During this master class, all questions of copyright and the system of algorithms in the age of the internet and especially Youtube will be addressed. These rules are complex. The legislation and the enforcement of rights are still unknown.
The presentation and animation will be provided by François Stassen (head of the Artes-Sabam audiovisual sector) and Jean- Jacques Jespers (professor at the ULB)
This master class is organized in partnership with Scam, Les Amis d’ma Mère and Artes-Sabam.
