Synopsis
Ahlaam is the second movie in the post-Saddam Hussein era to be shot in Iraq. The documentary film shows an incredibly complex picture ofthe current situation in Iraq, and the risks filmmakers in ’liberated’ Iraq face. There is hardly any equipment, safety cannot be guaranteed onthe set, so crew members, including the director himself, are arrested and tortured. Meanwhile, the film unveils an unknown picture of thepeople of Iraq : very strong characters who, despite their suffering,have not lost their human face, and who participate to the culturalimpetus of the film director in spite of the risks involved.
