Each year, the Millenium Festival invites the great masters of documentary filmmaking to share their hands-on experience with cinephiles.
This year, we are proud to offer new masterclasses led by leading professionals from the Belgian film industry.

The Festival presents a masterclass dedicated to the current challenges of documentary filmmaking. Organized in partnership with Associate Directors and SABAM, this masterclass will bring together industry professionals to discuss production, distribution, and new financing models.
Focused on hands-on experience, the session will cover production practices and how to establish strong collaborations with funders and broadcasters.
It will also highlight innovative digital solutions for raising funds and generating revenue in the audiovisual sector, while addressing distribution and the management of copyright and producer rights internationally.
Program:
- Presentation of the experience of the production company Associate Directors, by Mark Daems. The company is known for bringing together emerging and established talent around innovative projects, while developing close collaborations with numerous funding bodies, public and private broadcasters, and distribution networks.
- Documentary distribution between the French- and Dutch-speaking communities in Belgium, with Sévérine Konder (Screenbox) and Anneleen Naudts (Dalton Distribution)
- Collection of copyright and producer royalties through audiovisual distribution (cable, satellite, mobile), by Gaëtan De Deken (BAVP)
- New financing avenues for documentary filmmaking, presented by Grégory Monfort, CEO of ACE GOODACE (Art, Culture, Entertainment). This initiative offers digital tools based on blockchain technology to facilitate funding and generate additional revenue.
The masterclass will conclude with a networking drink hosted by SABAM.
