Synopsis

Riccardo, a final-year medical student from Italy, is going to Gaza on an Erasmus exchange to fulfil his dream: becoming a war surgeon. As war rages between Israelis and Palestinians, Riccardo wages a personal war with his own anxiety.

Director's Biography

Chiara Avesani is a journalist. After graduating in law, she has worked in an international corporate law firm before shifting to journalism. After a long collaboration with the Italian Public Television RAI, she collaborated with Al Jazeera America for “Compass”, a foreign policy program, and “America Tonight”, which covers stories on the migrant exodus. She reported from Mosul, Iraq for Sky News and collaborated with a Netflix documentary production. In 2016, Chiara teamed up with Matteo Delbò on the “Frontline of peace” project, a documentary web series on Iraqi civil society’s efforts to rebuild itself. “Ghadeer” is the first production of this project.

Matteo Delbò is a filmaker. After graduating from the Scuola Nazionale di Cinema in Rome, he won the David di Donatello Prize for best Short Film.
He did live broadcast for many years for the first Italian newspaper website “il Corriere della Sera” following natural emergences, demonstrations and riots and following migrant rescue operations boarded on a military ship for the 2013 operation “Mare Nostrum”. For Al Jazeera English, he has filmed a documentary for the program ‘Witness’, and has worked for Sky news from Mosul Iraq. In 2016, Matteo teamed with journalist Chiara Avesani for the project “Frontline of peace”, an ongoing web documentary series on the Iraqi civil society efforts to rebuilt. Ghadeer is the first story of the project.
Delbò now works with Rai, National Italian Tv.
