Acclaimed by both the audience and the jury, it tells the story of Barbara, an extraordinary woman whose resilience is truly inspiring. A story that strikes straight at the heart.

For this special screening, the director will be present and is making a special trip from Poland to meet the audience and discuss her film.

This event is organized jointly by the Uccle group of Amnesty International, CinéFemme asbl, the Polish Institute in Brussels, and the Millenium Festival.

SYNOPSIS

Charismatic and self-assured, Barbara begins to falter when the harmattan winds blow, stirring up haunting memories of her past. As a child, she endured the unimaginable horrors of child labor, thrust into a world of abuse and fear. This powerful documentary captures Barbara’s transformation from a girl burdened by bitterness to a woman who embraces her future with courage and resilience. Witness her inspiring quest for self-discovery and empowerment in the face of adversity.

DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY

Edyta Wroblewska is an award-winning director, screenwriter, and producer. Her film “PRL de Luxe” was awarded by the International Federation of Film Societies (FICC) at the IFF Etiuda&Anima. She also won the Silver Fenix Award at the Jewish Motifs IFF for “The Girl from A Reading Primer”, and received accolades at the Aye-Aye IFF for “Silence” and at the Chicago Movies & Music Festival for “Small Instruments”.
