International Competition Living Together

Synopsis :

It is through family photos and fictional conversations that the director, Firouzeh Khosrovani, tells us how her father, turned towards modernity, and her mother, religious and conservative, coexist under one roof and evolve differently with the changes in Iranian history. The family apartment, the seat of a power struggle between father and mother, thus reflects the ideological aspirations of both parents, passing over the years from a daring fatherly decoration to a dreary and austere maternal space. Like a diorama, the everyday space reflects the political events that rocked Iran, while family history is metaphored by portraying the intriguing puzzle that now constitutes Iranian identity.
