Panorama America - Opening in BOZAR with Generation Wealth by Lauren Greenfield

This panorama presents a selection of seven films that show the unknown side of North America, especially the United States, and the impact of its policies. They enable us to better understand the phenomena and strategies that have an impact on our European culture and economy.

Generation Wealth: "Lauren Greenfield's postcard of the American Empire captures the portrait of a materialistic culture, addicted to work and obsessed with images". This event screening in the presence of photographer Lauren Greenfield will open the "America" program (in collaboration with BOZAR) on Saturday, March 25, 2019 at BOZAR.

Freedom is a big Word: "Mohammed Motan Mohammed spent thirteen years of his life in Guantánamo Bay. At the age of 38, he tried his luck in Uruguay and tried to erase his traumas of detention". This screening will take place on Thursday, March 28 at 7:30 pm at the Cinéma Aventure.

Losing Alaska: "For Newtok's 375 residents, global warming has a very real impact. Members of this small Alaskan community are seeing their homes disappear into the sea as winter storms nibble on their coastline and melting permafrost erodes the shores of their city". This screening will take place on Thursday, March 28 at 7pm at the Cinéma Vendôme.

Netizens: "More than one in five women have reportedly already been victims of cyberbullying. "Netizens" reveals this phenomenon that spreads from the web to the most intimate spheres of women's lives." This screening will take place on Wednesday, March 27 at 7pm at the Cinéma Vendôme. It will be followed by a discussion with Lucile Poulain (journalist victim of cyber-harassment) and Etienne Wéry (lawyer specialized in defending victims of cyber-harassment).

In my Room: "Teenagers who are uncomfortable with themselves open the doors of their rooms to us by filming themselves in front of their webcam". This screening will open the Festival's program on Saturday, March 23rd at 3pm at the Cinema Galeries. It will be followed by a discussion with Olivier Mageren (EVRAS facilitator, education of relational, emotional and sexual life in schools) and Vanessa Lalo (psychologist specialising in digital practices and their cognitive, educational and cultural impact).

Vacancy: "The ultimate refuge for the forgotten of the American Dream, the motel in the United States is home to a whole population of the forgotten, of drifting humans who, from crisis to crisis - economic and personal - have been dispossessed of everything". This competition highlights films that deal with the major issues of our time, while overturning our vision of the world and that stand out for the quality and originality of their directors' eyes. These sensitive and touching films will introduce you to characters determined to have an impact on the world around them. The documentary that carries its message with the greatest strength and authenticity will receive the Golden Objective.
