Synopsis
Gilbert Kelner casts a new look upon the African economy that makes us reflect on our conception of its functioning. The documentary focuses on those people who are excluded from the global economy, living in a suburb of Dakar in Senegal. They survive thanks to the creativity, the ingenuity and the solidarity of women in a sort of informal economy. It also shows us how an ordinary African family spends and saves its money. Serge Latouche, an economist on the degrowth, takes us to the heart of this community. Maybe one day we could benefit from the expertise of these Africans in order to avoid the death of our economy, and to find a new postindustrial system?
