Synopsis: 

An 80-year-old man and his wife are the only inhabitants in a Chinese village that all the others have left. Disabled, they joke that both together, they have two eyes and three hands. Though they describe themselves as beggars, they work hard every day, growing buckwheat for the few sheep that are their joy and living. The film is a magnificent picture of the everyday struggle against the blows of fate of two people with incredible strength and captivating sense of humour.

Bio Director: 

Lao Zha was born in 1957 in the province of Sichuang, in China. He has lived and worked in the province of Ningxia since he graduated from the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. From 1982 to 1992, he worked as a telecom engineer; from 1992 to 2004, he ran a private company; from 2004 to 2005, he went to the country of Haiyuan, in the province of Ningxia, and worked as a volunteer teacher, where he started to make documentary films.
