Synopsis: 

In 2014, the Yezidi city of Shingal in northern Iraq was conquered and destroyed by Daesh. In a deserted coal mine on the Turkish border, thousands of Yezidi refugees wait for a safe return. Through the eyes of an older man, a teenage boy and a family, Shingal Where Are You? depicts a persecuted minority’s quest for a new homeland.

Bio Director: 

Angelos Rallis is a filmmaker and photographer who started his career as a theatre play director for Greek National Television and Athens University. He then moved to the UK to do research in visual sociology in the Centre for Urban and Community Research. His work focuses on a broad spectrum of topics that address urgent current affairs, along with social and anthropological issues. He is the director and cinematographer of the award-winning documentary film A Place for Everyone (2014).
