Gaëtan Leboutte’s documentary showcases the world of Les Pèlerins de Bouge, a theatre company made up of patients from psychiatric institutions, nurses and volunteers. Not only does this theatre company allow the patients to express themselves on stage, but also to create links with the audience that attend their plays. This is proof that theatre can be a form of therapy for the patients and a clever way to integrate and share.
Gaëtan Leboutte studied at the Belgian cinema school, INRACI. In 2006, he directed a short student documentary: Le magasin du souvenir before making L’élocution, another short student documentary, in 2007, which received several awards such as the People’s choice award at the Media 1010 (Namur Short Film Festival) and the Grand Prix National at the International Festival for Cinema schools, Huy (FIDEC). In 2010, he made La dernière séance, a journey into time and the heart of one of the oldest proximity cinemas of Belgium, which is today closed. This film is produced by GOMAZIO ASBL and distributed by rTbf, a Belgian TV channel.
