The 9th edition of the Millenium Festival closed on April 2nd, after 10 days of screenings of documentary films from all over the world. It’s time to give you a feedback on the highlights of the Festival!

Our 2017 edition offered an international programming made of 75 films from all over the world. Over 40 of them were premières in Belgium. We were glad to share with you these great documentary discoveries such as the astonishing Singing With Angry Bird which opened our Festival, the politically and socially committed I am Not Your Negro whose screening was sold-out a week after the release of our programme and The Good Postman, winner of the Grand Prize of the 2017 Festival.

And this year, for the first time, the Festival created the brand new Belgian Cinema Competition, a mean for us to show the vitality of this cinema that is dear to us and therefore we were delighted to welcome film directors from our country. What a tremendous success!

The whole week long was also an opportunity to reflect on major contemporary issues. We organised two conferences: our opening debate on “The Difficult Job of Being a Global Citizen” and a conference on robotisation. These two major events meant a lot to us and many of you came to share these moments with us.

This year, we have also had another significant change. Every day we organised professional meetings with directors and guests of the Festival. We rose to this challenge: pitching sessions, thematic discussions, meeting with the Belgian documentary cinema decision-makers. What a rewarding experience for all of us!

Every day since the Festival ended, we’ve received warm thanks, proving this adventure was all worthy! As a final word, we would like to give a very special thanks to our audience for taking part in this event. This Festival would not have been the same without you. You are the reason why we organise the Millenium Festival every year.

Thank you!
