Awards 2009
The Best Film Award was awarded to the director Idrissa Guiro for the movie Barcelona or Death who treated an important subject with subtlety: The immigration. He made an excellent work with the characters and developed a high quality cinematographic language.
The Best Development Message Award offered by UNDP was awarded to the director Daisy Lamothe for the movie Toro si Té. The documentary awarded treated many aspects of the Millenium Goals with a positive approach. The documentarist created a deep relation with his characters and treated them with a lot of respect and dignity.
The Best Human Rights Message Award offered by the UN-OHCHR was awarded to the movie Barcelona or Death directed by Idrissa Guiro for the best treatment of a subject linked with Human Rights and for his ability to present different dimensions of a problem. His subject’s approach is very deep and brings a positive message.
The Special Jury Award was awarded to the director Mari Corrêa for the movie Pirinop, my first contact. This award was given for the brave and devoted work of a film director who spent many years of her life for the making of the movie. It’s an award who puts the emphasis that the documentary film is not only the creation of a moment but also a huge commitment which transforms the filmmaker’s life.
The was given to the film director Carole Salter for the movie Mayomi. This movie had the best vote from the audience.
